At Lakefront Eye Care | Aesthetics & Wellness, we don't do "routine." Our Comprehensive Preventative Wellness Exam is designed to go deeper — evaluating not just how well you see, but how healthy your eyes are, how they connect to your overall wellness, and what we can do now to protect your vision for the future.
Most eye exams focus on one question: "Can you read the chart?" We ask a lot more than that.
Our wellness exam is built around the philosophy that your eyes are a window into your systemic health. Conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, autoimmune disorders, and nutritional deficiencies often show up in your eyes before you experience any other symptoms. By examining your eyes thoroughly, we're also screening for your overall health.
Visual acuity and refraction — determining your precise prescription for glasses or contacts
Binocular vision assessment — evaluating how your eyes work together, focusing ability, and eye coordination
Intraocular pressure measurement — screening for glaucoma
Anterior segment evaluation — examining the cornea, iris, lens, and eyelids with our Firefly digital slit lamp
Dilated or wide-field retinal examination — using our Eidon Ultra-Wide Field imaging and Zeiss Cirrus OCT to assess the health of your retina, optic nerve, and macular region
Ocular surface health assessment — evaluating tear quality and meibomian gland function
Systemic health correlation — connecting what we see in your eyes to your overall health picture
For adults and seniors, we place special emphasis on:
Early detection of age-related conditions including macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy
Presbyopia management — helping you navigate the vision changes that come with age, from progressive lenses to multifocal contacts
Dry eye evaluation — a condition that becomes more common with age and is often underdiagnosed
Medication review — many common medications have ocular side effects that should be monitored
Coordination with your primary care team — if we detect systemic health concerns through your eye exam, we'll communicate with your doctors
Healthy vision is essential for learning, development, and confidence. Our pediatric eye exams are thorough yet child-friendly, designed to catch issues that school screenings routinely miss:
Amblyopia (lazy eye) and strabismus (eye turn) detection
Refractive error assessment — many children don't know they can't see clearly because they have nothing to compare it to
Binocular vision and focusing skills — critical for reading and classroom performance
Myopia risk assessment — early identification of children at risk for progressive nearsightedness, with referral to our Myopia Control program when appropriate
We recommend first eye exams by age 1, again before kindergarten, and annually during school years.
The conditions that cause the most vision loss — glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy — often have no symptoms in their early stages. By the time you notice a problem, significant damage may have already occurred. Regular comprehensive exams are the single most important thing you can do to protect your vision.
Because we're more than an eye care practice, your wellness exam can also be the starting point for:
Dry Eye Aesthetics Spa — if we detect ocular surface disease or meibomian gland dysfunction, we can discuss IPL and RF therapy that benefits both your eyes and your skin
Aesthetics consultations — interested in EMFace, skin rejuvenation, or EXOMind brain wellness? Ask about adding a consultation during your visit
Nutritional guidance — we offer personalized dietary advice that supports eye health, skin health, and overall wellness
At Lakefront Eye Care, every exam is an opportunity to take better care of your whole self.
Your eyes tell a story about your health. Let's read it together.
