Our Team

Dr. Bert founded Lakefront Eye Care in 2015 and has spent the last decade growing it into a thriving, premier practice in Edgewater/Sloan's Lake. While her roots are in private practice optometry, her passion has evolved alongside the cutting-edge technology she provides. As a holistic optometrist, Dr. Bert believes that eye health is deeply connected to overall systemic wellness, and she remains dedicated to ensuring every patient at Lakefront achieves their most functionally efficient vision and health.

In recent years, Dr. Bert’s clinical focus expanded through the use of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and Radiofrequency (RF) to treat dry eye and ocular surface disease. Witnessing the life-changing results of these technologies sparked a new passion for the aesthetics and wellness space. This led her to bring EMFace and EXOMind to the practice—treatments she considers miraculous for their ability to enhance both form and function. Dr. Bert feels a deep professional obligation to provide access to this medical-grade technology for everyone who can benefit, moving these advanced treatments out of the exclusive "med-spa" world and into a primary care setting where they can serve the whole community.

A Chicago native, Dr. Bert earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Purdue University and completed pre-doctoral studies at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. She earned her Doctorate of Optometry with clinical honors from the Illinois College of Optometry. Her extensive clinical background includes directing specialty contact lens sections in surgical centers and managing complex ocular disease at the William Chappell Jr. Veterans Outpatient Clinic in Florida.

As Clinical Director, Dr. Bert now focuses her expertise on the strategic growth and medical oversight of the practice, ensuring Lakefront Eye Care Aesthetics and Wellness remains at the forefront of innovation. This leadership role allows her to guide the practice’s evolution while balancing her most important role: Mom. She lives in Colorado with her husband, Sam, and their four children: son Jack, twin daughters Ava and Dana, and their youngest son, Cole. When she isn’t steering the future of the practice, she loves embracing the Colorado outdoors through kite surfing, mountain biking, and skiing with her family.

Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin Dr. Caroline Kucha attended Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then traveled to Boston to attend The New England College of Optometry where she received her Doctorate in Optometry.

Dr. Kucha’s training included rotations at Boston Medical Center, Edith Norse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, and Boston Children’s Hospital. During her rotations she received training in multiple different specialties such as contact lens, low vision, geriatrics, and pediatrics. Dr. Kucha’s passion for pediatric eye care developed when she was rotating through Boston Children’s where she participated in the READ Grant which concentrated on providing spectacles to children with disabilities.

In her free time, Dr. Kucha enjoys spending time with family and friends, going on walks with her beloved dog Bella, skiing, and trying new restaurants.
