Our Doctor

​​​​​Dr. Bert started Lakefront Eye Care in 2015 and has loved growing it into the thriving practice it is today. Private practice optometry is Dr. Bert’s passion and she takes pride in providing exceptional care to every patient she sees. She is a contact lens specialist and takes a holistic approach to eye and health care. She not only provides a thorough eye examination but spends time with each patient to ensure they are achieving the best and most functionally efficient vision possible. She enjoys explaining her assessment of the health of the eyes and how it is connected and related to each patient’s overall health.

Dr. Bert loves to see kids and participates in the Infant See program providing eye exams at no cost to infants under one year of age. Her other specialties include ocular disease including dry eye and ocular surface disease, diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and corneal disease including the fitting of specialty contact lenses. She also provides myopia control services and care where the progression of nearsightedness can be significantly slowed and reduced in children.

Dr. Bert grew up in the Chicago area and received her Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Purdue University. She also spent time abroad working on her pre-doctoral studies at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. Dr. Bert completed her Optometry Doctorate with clinical honors from the Illinois College of Optometry. She has had extensive experience with surgical co-management and directed the specialty contact lens section at Lakeshore Eye Physicians surgical center in Chicago. She also spent time at the William Chappell Jr. Veterans Outpatient Clinic in Daytona Beach, Florida where she focused on treatment and management of ocular disease.

Dr. Bert loves the outdoor activities of Colorado and spends her free time kite surfing, mountain biking, and skiing with her husband, Sam. Dr. Bert has presently limited her time at Lakefront Eye Care to stay home to raise her four year old son, Jack and twin two year old daughters, Ava and Dana.

​​​​​Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin Dr. Caroline Kucha attended Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then traveled to Boston to attend The New England College of Optometry where she received her Doctorate in Optometry.

Dr. Kucha’s training included rotations at Boston Medical Center, Edith Norse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, and Boston Children’s Hospital. During her rotations she received training in multiple different specialties such as contact lens, low vision, geriatrics, and pediatrics. Dr. Kucha’s passion for pediatric eye care developed when she was rotating through Boston Children’s where she participated in the READ Grant which concentrated on providing spectacles to children with disabilities.

In her free time, Dr. Kucha enjoys spending time with family and friends, going on walks with her beloved dog Bella, skiing, and trying new restaurants.
